Is your builder’s tour enough?
A builder or factory tour may be enough if it shows your current plan, options and finishes. A custom preview is useful when your own selections or furniture are missing from that view. Check what the existing tour actually covers before paying for another model, and compare scope rather than image polish alone.
What is a stock tour useful for?
A tour of a display or sample home can explain room connections and a typical layout. Some providers also offer option or finish configuration. Ask which plan revision and choices it represents instead of assuming all stock tours are fixed or generic.
What does a buyer-specific preview add?
The service follows one authorized plan version and the selections you supply, with furniture sized from your measurements. It records stand-ins and assumptions for discussion. It is useful only if those details answer a question the existing media leaves open.
How can I compare the two fairly?
Ask the same questions of either source: Does this match my current plan? Are these my finishes? What is assumed? Can my furniture be represented? What can I keep? How are corrections handled? A free included tour that answers the question can be the better choice.
What do current services actually show?
Public examples include a modular-home dealer’s display tours and a separate done-for-you floor-plan modeling service. These demonstrate different approaches; I have not purchased or independently tested either service. Source pages checked October 27, 2026.
When should I start a separate preview?
Start when you have an unanswered decision, usable plans, permission and a scope worth paying for. Prices in USD: a $200 plan check credited to the job. Selections preview: $1,250 for 1 room, 2 finish options and 4 photoreal stills; $1,900 for 2 rooms, 2–3 finish options and 6 photoreal stills; $800 per extra room. Full home preview: $2,500 up to 1,500 sq ft; $3,500 up to 3,000 sq ft; $5,200 up to 4,500 sq ft; $7,500 up to 6,500 sq ft; $10,500 up to 9,000 sq ft. Bigger or unusual homes are quoted first.
What else should you know?
Do I need a preview if my builder already includes one?
Possibly not. Check that the included tour answers your question about your plan version, finish selections and furniture. If it does, a separate preview may add little.
What would you like to see more clearly?
Start with your plan and the decisions ahead.
Conceptual preview only. Not for construction or measurement.
